    Welcome To Best Friends Pets

    Your Dog’s First Visit

Calm, patient grooming designed to help dogs feel safe and comfortable from the moment they arrive.

    1

    Before The Appointment

We know that bringing your dog to a new groomer can feel daunting, especially if they are nervous, a rescue, or simply haven't been groomed before.

When you book, we’ll ask a few questions about your dog’s personality, any sensitivities they have, and their previous grooming experiences. This helps us prepare the right environment and approach for them. Nervous dogs are always welcome here — we specialise in helping them feel at ease.

    2

    Arriving At The Salon

When you arrive, there is no rushing. We keep the salon environment as calm and quiet as possible to avoid overstimulation.

We’ll take the time to greet your dog calmly, letting them sniff and explore at their own pace. We’ll also have a brief consultation with you to discuss the grooming plan, ensuring we fully understand what your dog needs before you leave them in our care.

    3

    During Grooming

Our grooming process is built around patience and trust. We read your dog's body language continuously, adjusting our pace to suit them.

If a dog becomes anxious or overwhelmed, we stop. We offer regular breaks, gentle reassurance, and positive reinforcement throughout the session. Building a trusting relationship with your dog is always more important to us than rushing to finish a groom.

    4

    After The Visit

When you return, we’ll give you a full update on how your dog did during their groom, highlighting any areas where they were exceptionally brave or might need a little extra desensitisation at home.

Because we focus heavily on positive reinforcement and calm handling, most dogs find that each subsequent visit becomes easier, less stressful, and eventually, something they can comfortably tolerate or even enjoy.
